After having the chance to have a crazy water fight, i decided to go away from the city and stayed on the countryside for one night. The journey took about an hour where we were picked up at 7 in the morning by our friends brother. I was still not yet recovered from yesterday's tiredness. I was sleepy and pretty damn tired. Upon reaching, i was astonished by how the house looks. It was classic Lanna style with a twist of modernity. We were greeted by her family and were served chicken rice cooked by her mother. It was awkward at first but managed to adapt, owning it. Ah..damn Bruneians don't know how to control themselves lol.
Around noon, Inn's father brought us around the village where we visited some places like Mork Fa waterfall, Mae Lot village and stopped at this cute little shop called Care Coffee. THE SECOND BEST COFFEE I HAVE EVER TASTED (Vietnam being the first!). Simple yet strong on the taste. I didnt take pictures of the place nor the drinks but just ask the people around there if you're there. After having coffee, we went to see the waterfall which we have a few minutes to dip our feet in it. It was freaking cold. The waterfall is not as pretty as i thought it would be, but then again, it is a waterfall. We also managed to visit a hill tribe in Mae Lot. The view was simple breathtaking.
We hung out outside my friend's house the whole afternoon, listening to music and lying on the comfy hammock. It was relaxing and liberating to have a moment to just lie there and stare into space.
(Inn's grandmother made this for us. yum!!)
We also took some time to visit the Mae Ngad Dam for sunset. It was gorgeous. Although we missed the sunset bit, it was picturesque nonetheless.
Inn's dad took us exploring the countryside. thank you for your time, uncle.
Apart from that, we were also brought to celebrate the real Songkran rituals the next day. Woke up by the crack of dawn and went to the temple to experience the unexperienced. We arrived at the temple near their house, carrying stick that has colourful papers on it. We didn't know what it was. We went inside and sat on the floor while the monks chants to my friend's family and later, the foods they were holding earlier was given to the monks. We learnt a lot that day but without a doubt, tired. We ended the day with two palms on my chest and a thank you to the hosts who welcome us into their home and giving us the best experiences in the quaint village called Mae Sot.
