When you're out of the country alone, you want to have the feeling of home by your side no matter what. You know the feeling of having to gossip about nonsense things or the feeling of having to update the love ones about your day or even spending a special occasion with your family and friends. Here, in Hanoi, two girls were having a birthday in September and me, being a good friend, had the need to do something with one aim in mind; making these two girls cry. The two girls are Jastina Jalani and Izza Idris.
A week ago or last September, we celebrated Jas's and izza's Advanced Birthday. It was supposed to be a surprise but you know, words got around, even others want to be invited. For this occasion, i decided to go big so i need help. Lots of help. Help also known as Zurah & Rolland.
We were assigned a specific task; Zurah was in charge of the guest list and place settings, Rolland for the music while I prepared the videos and finding a nice place to stay. I checked booking.com (the best website...like ever!) and booked a 3-bedroom apartment for two nights at The Somerset Grand Hotel which is located in the city named Hoan Keam. The apartment includes a kitchen, 2 bathroom, a living room, a dining area and 3 huge bed rooms. Good job pe! We decided to pamper ourselves with good bed, good food and good company. The apartment was huge; it can accommodate up to 6 people, but for this special occasion, i just had to ask the rest to sleepover (which was 13 of us). I divided each room for the boys, the girls and the birthday girls. As it was their night, we decided to give the master bedroom for the birthday girls.
On Saturday, the girls went for a quick shopping while me, rolland and zurah went to check the place out and had a sneaky lunch there while discussing the menus for the night. The girls wanted a gatsby theme for their birthday so we really pressed the word "posh", "glam" and "rich" to the supervisor.
At 5pm, the birthday girls had a make up artist sent to their room and get themselves ready with make up and hair do. While waiting for their turns, i showed them a video i made - messages from the loved ones at home.
*i would like to thank those who were willing to take their time to contribute to this surprise... & yes! They cried!*
Since there was a theme, everyone needs to dress for the occasion. I remember vividly Nazurah kept reminding the others to dress up. The dinner, unfortunately, got pushed to 7pm as everyone arrived late and the fact that the girls was not ready yet.
At 7.30pm, there they were, dressed in full Gatsby outfits. As everyone looked over their shoulders to get a clear view of the birthday girls, the girls exchanged smiles as they were ushered to their leather seats. Everyone was awed by their pressence. Izza was wearing black lacey dress with a strappy black bedazzled heels and a diamond bohemian chic headpiece while Jas rocked a white lacey dress with shiny gold heels and a floral lace head piece, complimenting their best features and emphasizing their curves. The make up they went for was a total opposite where Jas went for a subtle goddess while Izza went for the classy smoke.
Dinner were served, speeches were announced, drinks were drank and pictures were tons.
After the dinner, we went to a club for a bit of dancing which i am not going to elaborate on. Hehe! We did have fun though. No surprises there. We then ended the night with eating the birthday cake in the hotel room.
